Do NOT Buy ANY MLM Leads Until You Read This!

To make sense of this subject we need to first understand the different types of leads and their uses. There are basically 5 types of leads you will come across when you are investigating purchasing leads.

1 and 2) Opt-in or Double opt in

Opt-in means that a person has completed a form OR selected an option to receive information about a home based business. Double opt-in leads are generated after an opt in lead is sent a verification email to make sure they are truly interested in an opportunity.

Some opt in leads are directed to another page and asked to fill out additional information to verify their request. Not all opt-in or double opt in leads are created equal. There are two ways opt-in leads are generated..

The first is through co-registration. This simply means that a prospect visits a website like a free lottery site but before they are able to play the lottery they have to complete a registration form.

The way the form is structured will determine if the co-registration leads are opt-in or opt-out. Opt in are the best selection. Opt out co-registration leads are generated when the form a person filled out has a check mark in front of all the opportunities listed on the page.

Once the person submits the form they will now receive information from every person and or company that was listed on the form unless they uncheck an opportunity that is listed. Most people do NOT know that they can opt out and they simply submit the form.

This is going to cause at least ten companies to send this person information that would certainly overwhelm even someone who was initially interested in an opportunity. Opt in co- registration leads allow the visitor to view opportunities and select only those they have interest in.

The problem with this type of lead is that many companies who sell MLM Leads and Opportunity Seeker Leads post generic ads on these sites then sell them to others who also sell them. These leads have most likely been contacted numerous times by a number of people before you get the lead.

Even if the lead is fresh a number of people will most likely end be marketing to the same lead. I know of at least three companies who sell leads that promote an ad and a thank you letter that I wrote over a year ago!

Each of these websites is getting their leads from the same source! If you visited a website that tells you how their leads were generated and they show you an ad and thank you letter with the following text:

Step 1 -The prospect responds to a Business Opportunity Ad on the Internet. They fill out a form, and request to be contacted with more information.

The Ad they see is as follows: Tired of wasting money on the Internet? Generate income with a home-based business you can be proud of. Real Opportunity. Real Products. Full Training & Support. 5-20 hrs/wk. Minimal investment of a few hundred dollars is required. A consultant will contact you.

Step 2 - The prospect is immediately sent a Thank-You Letter via email, and is prescreened again with key particulars about costs and time investment. They are notified that they will be contacted within 24-48 hours. Thank you for your request for information on our Business Opportunity. You recently visited one of our partner websites and opted in for this information.

Our elite team of Marketing Professionals have a real opportunity with real products & services. NO Experience is necessary. We will teach you what it takes to generate income Online as well as Offline with an opportunity you can be proud of. Full Training & Support will be provided. 5-20 hrs/wk. A minimal investment of $300-$500 dollars is required. Additional capital for promotional expenses is optional.

I wrote the ad and the thank you letter as well as the advertising copy for the original site the leads were marketed on!

The leads are all coming from the same place!

A number of entrepreneurs are using my copy and marketing the leads from the same source at different prices. The leads actually cost less than .75 per lead from the original source and they are co-registration opt-in leads.

A number of companies are selling these leads for $2.00 or more per lead!

The worse part is that they are promoting these leads as MLM Leads which they are not!

The second type of opt-in leads are directed to a form on a website from either clicking on a banner, an email link or other form of advertising.

They complete the form to request more information about a home based business. The ad is generic in nature so the leads can be sold to a number of different companies and can be used for any online opportunity.

The key thing to remember is that these leads are NOT MLM Leads.

This is what is called an "incentivised" lead. This creates a problem because the visitor may be have interest in the incentives but may NOT really be interested in a business opportunity.

If you were to purchase one of these types of leads they would probably not be too receptive to hearing from 5-10 different people about a business opportunity. Especially if it is an MLM Opportunity.

These types of leads are certainly not MLM Leads.

4) Surveyed Leads-These are the most expensive type of leads and have a high possibility that they truly can be MLM Leads. A visitor is directed to a website by a number of different methods and has to complete a detailed form that asks specific qutestions.

There are a number of different questions these forms can ask but the two most crucial to generating MLM Leads are: Do they have any prior MLM experience and if so what MLM companies have they worked with in the past?

The most important information you want to gather from a surveyed lead is how much time a person can invest, how much money they have to invest and how soon they are looking to get started.

A variation you will also see marketed is the Telephone Verified Lead and the phone qualfied lead which are two separate things. Both could be MLM Leads depending upon what questions they were asked.

Telephone Verified Leads are simply surveyed leads whose information was verified by a telemarketer. These leads are a bit more expensive but people think that they are phone qualified leads when they are not. These leads should cost less than phone qualified leads.

Phone Interviewed Leads are generally opt in leads or business opportunity seeker leads that have been contacted by a telemarketer who interviews the prospect and gets the answers to specific questions.

This is the highest quality lead that you can get and normally costs between $5 and $10.00.
