The Truth About MLM Lead Generation

MLM Lead generation is one of the most misunderstood concepts in the MLM promotion arena.

There are so many different ways to generate new leads, but some of them are much more effective than others. If you’re already involved with an MLM you might have been told by your downline to write a list of ALL the people you know and talk to them about the Isagenix opportunity.

Did it work? probably not!

I know it didnt for me.

My old MLM Lead Generation Methods

I tried everything I could think of to generate new MLM leads, including:

• Getting my family, freinds, colleages and basically anyone that would issue to join me
• Purchased MLM leads from various companies who all promised the best, freshest leads
• Organising local leaflet drops and advertising campaigns

Guess what? Nothing worked!

I managed to signup a few distributors, but considering how much time and money I spent it didnt seem worthwhile. Also the distributors I did sign up were not in business or looking to start a business, I had to ‘convince’ them to get on board and most of them ended up leaving pretty quick.

Sound familar? thought so!

My New MLM Lead Generation Methods

I quickly realised I wasnt going to make much money like this, so I started to look at other ways to generate leads and the internet seemed like the perfect place. Most people now go to the internet first when they are looking for an MLM opportunity. They search on Google and social media sites to find existing distributors and read reviews and reports about different MLM companies.

I started using search engine marketing and PPC/Google Adwords to promote my MLM business.  This was 100 times more effective than my old methods, I was soon generating new leads everyday – my MLM lead generation system was finally working!

But there were two problems with my system at this time:

• The prospects were seeing me as desperate, not as an MLM expert they ‘wanted’ to work with
• I didnt have a good enough ‘follow-up’ system

So even though I was getting signups each week, I thought I could do better.

I STOPPED selling my MLM opportunity and now direct my leads a website, capture page or online video and give them something for free , in return for their email address.  Sometimes I even sell them products to cover my advertising costs.

Once I’ve hooked them in with some useful, fresh content and they see me as a ‘MLM expert’, I follow up using an MLM autoresponder system which automatically sends my leads a series of emails to entice them further.

Then… I can then I approach them about my MLM opportunity - but often they come to me first, before I get the chance to ask them!

You can’t seperate your MLM Marketing System and MLM Lead Generation, they have to work together. You need to have a capture page or website to send your leads to. You need something useful to give them when they get there and you need an email MLM autoresponder system setup to send them further details and eventually provide details about your MLM.

How to get your leads using the new methods of MLM Lead Generation

Its all very well saying you need to target people on the internet looking for a new opportunity, but how do you get to them?

There are a number of methods, each has its advantages and disadvantages. In the past I have used:

• Search Engine Optimization to generate organic traffic
• PPC and Google Adwords
• Article Marketing
• Email list buying
• Banner Advertising

Remember these are people who are actually looking to find a new MLM opportunity and you are giving them an answer. Your strike rate with these people is going to be far higher than Uncle Sam and your Dad’s mate.
